The Essentia Foundation Announces Strategic Plan for Dissolution and Pioneering Beneficiary-Driven Grant Allocation Process

The Essentia Foundation, a leading Scottish charity known for its impactful work in advancing the health, social welfare, and economic opportunities of children and young people, has announced a strategic and innovative approach to concluding its operations. By 31 December 2025, the Foundation will have fully distributed its remaining funds and officially ceased operations. However, this dissolution is not merely an ending, but a transformation designed to maximise impact and set a new standard in the charitable sector.

A Strategic and Positive Conclusion

The decision to dissolve by the end of 2025 is a strategic move, agreed upon by the Trustees as the most effective way to ensure the Foundation’s resources deliver maximum impact. We intend to involve beneficiaries – children and young people – in the decision-making process for grant allocations, The Essentia Foundation is breaking new ground and setting a precedent for how charities can operate.

“This is not the end of our mission, but a re-imagining of how we can best serve those in need with the funds we have available. We are confident that this approach will leave a lasting legacy for the charity sector we have targeted and set a new standard for the involvement of beneficiaries in the grant decision-making processes.”

Brian Davidson, The Essentia Foundation Chairperson.

Further announcements will be made as we more fully develop our plans to distribute our funds.
